Zelle for Citibank

Client: Citibank, 2017-2018
Role: Lead UX Designer at Critical Mass
Medium: Android & IOS
Primary users: Citibank customers

Citibank was rolling out Zelle, the digital payment service that enables users to electronically transfer money from their bank account to another user’s bank account, across their mobile platforms. I launched several features for Zelle, including split and scheduled payments, on Android and IOS.

Process

I worked on this project for 7 months and launched four features on Android and IOS. My counterpart on this project was a visual designer. We collaborated closely on the UX flows and UI components. We worked within two design systems: Zelle and Citibank. This process involved several reviews with the Zelle team and Citi design. We worked directly with Citibanks engineering team in Texas to implement the feature.

Outcomes

I successfully shipped the Send, Request and Split flows, but I had to leave before usability testing of the Scheduled and Recurring payment flows. My coworker, Sasha Taran, took over for me. Testing went well and overall the flows stayed the same with some updates to copy and a few layout changes in the history section.
